Christmas Lights 2000

2000 was the year that I got the Werner 32' ladder enabling me to reach the second story. I needed to do some work up on the house and my 16' ladder wouldn't reach. I didn't want to trust my life to a wobbly rented ladder, so I decided to invest in a good quality ladder, all the while planning to add more Christmas lights in higher places.

Looking south west. Lights around the four top windows and just under the roof, but there is a big void on the east side of the house. This was corrected in 2001.	Christmas 2000 partial solar eclipse. Taken with tripod mounted Nikon FM with Nikkor 200mm F4 lens using a solar filter made from a piece of #14 welder's glass.	Looking towards the south east. There is also a noticeable lack of lights on the bushes on the west (right) side of the house. This was corrected (somewhat) in 2001.

The ladder has been a good investment. I use it often for such jobs as cleaning the gutters, minor roof repair, and yes, putting up Christmas lights! A great accessory I bought for the ladder is a ladder leveler. Our property slopes slightly, just enough to make leveling a large ladder problematic. The ladder leveler compensates for uneven ground automatically, effortlessly. I had my doubts, but it has worked perfectly. The ladder leveler has proven to be one of my best hardware investments ever.

The weekend after Christmas, 2000, we had a huge blizzard. It was a cold and snowy winter. We had so much snow that I couldn't take the Christmas lights down until late March!
