Brad
and his Dodge Charger, Spring 1978. Brad and Elliot took a trip to New Orleans
to find a rust-free body for Brad's dream car. They towed the Charger back
to Troy behind Brad's Chrysler 300. Brad replaced the Charger's stock 383 V8
engine with the much more powerful 440 V8 from the Chrysler. |
The light Charger body with the big 440
was a fast combination. In addition to simply displacing more cubic inches,
the 440 was a special, high combustion motor purchased by Brad's Dad when he
originally bought the Chrysler 300. This 440 Charger was a true muscle car.
I loved riding in it. |
The RPI Sports Car Club sponsored a pylon race in
a roped off parking lot. Brad and the Charger did OK considering the Charger wasn't really
designed for this type of racing. The guys in the little Triumphs and MG's dominated. |

This was a common sight, I don't think it was ever really finished.
Unfortunately the Charger was also a magnet for trouble, and became too
expensive to insure. I later learned that Brad sold it before his death. Too
bad, I might have bought it. I wonder where it is now? |
